Hello my name is Shane Wolffe. I’m a professional engineer who is accredited in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Thermographer, and I have been trained by the Canadian Passive House Institute. I work in a field called “commissioning” to ensure the quality of “Green Buildings” and industrial projects mostly in Saskatchewan, Canada; a place with one of the world’s harshest climates. I also work in the Yukon, which most people would recognize as a very cold place.
The temperatures in Saskatchewan range from -40°C (-40°F) to 35°C (95°F), making our society one of the most energy dependent in the world.
You might be surprised to learn that we can cost effectively build “green” here. If it can be done in such a climate of extremes, it can be done anywhere.
I want to show you how you can save money, provide a healthier home for your family, and contribute to building a better world by understanding the basics of “green buildings”.
For instance did you know that your home is a long-term, highly valuable asset that can save you money every single day? Essentially your home is either a part of the climate change problem or a part of the solution.
